Fear of the unknown: PDF Print E-mail

I'm reminded of the story of an Arab Chief who had the strange custom of giving condemned criminals a choice between the firing squad and the Big Black Door.

A captured spy had been tried and sentenced to death.  The day of execution arrived and the spy was brought before the chief, "What will it be, asked the Chief, the firing squad or the Big Black Door?"   The spy hesitated for a long time and finally chose the firing squad.

Moments later after hearing the shots ring out, confirming the spy's execution, the chief turned to his aide and said, "They always prefer the known to the unknown, people fear what they don't know.  Yet, we gave him a choice. ""What lies beyond that Door?", asked the aide.  "Freedom!" replied the Chief, "and I've only known a few men brave enough to choose that door."

Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain!!!
